JACKSON, Miss.- Most elementary and high school teach computer courses but advanced instruction is few and far between.
So the Department of Education and Mississippi State University are teaming up to provide more advanced computer science education to those schools.
They will spend $200,000 over the summer to train teachers so that the program can be implemented in schools over the next few years. They are aiming teachers to give roughly an hour of instruction per week.
The new courses will also include entry-level high school classes that will prepare students for the more advanced courses.
