Founding guitarist of 3 Doors Down dead at 38

JACKSON, MISS– Founding member and former lead guitarist of 3 Doors Down Matt Roberts of Escatawpa, Mississippi, has died at the age of 38. 

According to Billboard.com, Roberts was set to play a charity event in Wisconsin. After rehearsal, he went back to his hotel room, which was adjoined to his father’s hotel room.

Authorities woke Darrell Roberts, Matt’s father, to tell him his son had passed away.

Roberts was one of the founding members of 3 Doors Down, along with Brad Arnold and Todd Harrell, both of Escatawpa. The band formed in 1996.
