JACKSON, Miss.- Two people have been picked up in Kansas after being connected with a Pascagoula burglary investigation, and a Jackson triple homicide.
They have now officially been charged with three counts of capitol murder apiece, and one count of armed robbery of a business. Both are set to be extradited from Junction City, Kansas.
31-year-old Jamison Layne Townsend and 35-year-old Joshua Garcia were arrested Tuesday night after leading deputies in Geary County, Kansas.
Geary County Sheriff Tony Wolf said that a deputy tried to pull the Dodge Charger the two were in over on I-70 near mile maker 311 for not having any tags displayed reported local media.
As soon as the deputy made contact with the driver the car took off and were eventually chased into a dead end where they crashed. Garcia was driving and then took off on foot but was found hiding nearby.
The two were wanted in connection with crimes in Pascagoula and in the capitol city.
Last week in Pascagoula, Sam’s Jewelry was broken into overnight. Surveillance photos of Garcia and Townsend were released to the authorities, along with a description of the red Dodge Charger they were driving.
Then in Jackson, three men were killed at Bill’s Pawn & Jewelry Saturday night on Wilmington Street.
The victims include the owner, 81-year-old Cleveland “Bill” Mosley, 60-year-old Robert Ivy, and 77-year-old Ted McLemore. A vigil was held on Tuesday night in their honor.
The suspects are being held at the Geary County Detention Center.
