Newton County Man Accused of Hiring Hit Man Denied Bond

NEWTON COUNTY, Miss. – A man from Newton County is being held without bond for what the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations (MBI) is calling a murder-for-hire plot.

They say John Thomas Roberts tried to contract a hitman to kill four people.

MBI spokesperson Warren Strain says Roberts’s investigation has been going on for about two weeks now.

The MBI is not saying who Roberts is accused of wanting dead out of deference for the targets. More is expected to be revealed as Roberts has his initial hearing in court.
