Bitter Love and Sweet Tea Leads To Attempted Murder Charge Against North Mississippi Man

MARSHALL COUNTY, Miss. – A Marshall County man has been charged with attempted murder after his fiancee` said he put rat poison in a can of her Arizona sweet tea.

The woman said it tasted like Kool-Aid, but made her tongue numb and caused her heart rate to speed up.  Her teenage daughter, who called police to the home for help, said her mom had recently kicked out Melvin Lee Moore.   Police would not confirm a motive, but said the couple had been through some tough domestic issues.

The woman, who refused medical treatment, is said to be ok and back at work following the April 6 incident.  Moore remains in jail.
