VIDEO:Police Identify MSU Student That Caused Maroon Alert on Starkville Campus

STARKVILLE— The man police say was threatening the student body at Mississippi State, Fhu-Qui Cong Nguyen, a freshman student from Madison, is in custody.

Police say Nguyen was threatening to kill himself on the drill field, as well as threatening to harm other students.

There are no reports of shots fired.

Operations will continue at Mississippi State as usual at 2pm.

The person was taken into police custody on the drill field near McCool Hall. It appeared that Highway Patrol officers were at least talking to the person in cuffs per photos from multiple people on campus at MSU. In the photos, patrolmen seem to be well armed.

Lowndes County Swat Team was on the way to MSU, if the need for them were to arise.

Conflicting social media reports from folks on campus created confusion when determining if the situation was actually in control.

The lockdown for Starkville-Oktibbeha Schools has been lifted.
