GULFPORT, Miss. — He took BP oil spill money that he was not eligible for, now Thanh Nguyen of Oceans Springs is facing the penalty. A federal judge sentenced him to 16 months in prison and he will have to pay back the nearly $170,000 he received.
Back in 2010 Nguyen said he lost business from a dollar store he owned in Tennessee, but the feds say he closed it two months before the oil spill even happened.
