JACKSON, Miss. — HIV has come back to haunt this little girl from Mississippi, the doctors that treated her, and the millions around the world that thought a cure had been found. The girl is almost four years old and for over two years showed no sign of the virus, as recently as March, until Thursday.
This is big blow to everyone who had hopes that aggressive early treatment with HIV drugs was in fact the cure. The child will now have to fall back on a life of medication.
