Person of Interest Identified in Death of Former Millsaps College Football Star

BATON ROUGE, La. — Police have identified a suspect in the shooting death of former Conerly Trophy winner and Millsaps College football standout Juan Joseph.

Kendric Cloud, 25, is wanted by Baton Rouge police.  Investigators said Joseph was shot following an argument outside a nightclub in that city Sunday.  He died later at the hospital.

Joseph was working on his masters in Business Administration at Millsaps, but withdrew and took a football coaching job at West St. John High School, his alma mater.  Friends said he saw it as an opportunity to give back.

The school district released a statement following his death saying Joseph wasn’t “just an employee … but an important part of the community.”

Anyone with information on Cloud’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.
