Aircraft mechanic awarded Aviation Technician of the Year

The Federal Aviation Administration Office for the state of Mississippi has selected a Dean Aircraft Service mechanic as the Mechanic of the Year.

Tom Meek, who has worked for the Meridian-based aircraft service for 28 years, was presented the award Thursday at a state luncheon.

The Kentucky native, Navy, Army, and Air Force veteran was an aircraft technician for his entire military career, which lasted from 1983-2011.  Meek has been at Dean serving as shop supervisor since 1989.

“I feel very blessed to work at Dean Aircraft Service, not only to become a better technician but also a better leader,” said Meek. “I am very appreciative and thankful for this award.”

Leonard Dean, president of Dean Aircraft Service, said Meek was the right pick for the honor.

“Tom is very, very competent and dedicated to his work. I am extremely happy to see him get this award,” said Dean.
