Over the weekend a 50-year-old woman was assaulted while jogging down Pine Grove Road near Hwy 49.

The suspect allegedly beat her severely and was scared off by a neighbor.

Hinds County Dispatch notified the Madison County sheriff’s office  of the incident and requested
a BOLO for the vehicle.

Madison authorities said they were looking for the same vehicle, as it had been involved in an accident involving a pedestrian, as well as, another accident involving a truck.

The Metro 1 helicopter was dispatched for assistance.

They located the vehicle traveling down Farr Rd. in Hinds County and deputies attempted to stop the truck, however, the suspect attempted to ram their vehicles and refused to stop.

The driver turned into a driveway near the intersection of Hwy 22 and Tucker lane just outside Edwards.

The suspect then continued through a yard and was fatally shot by an un-named Edwards Police Officer while allegedly attempting to run over the Police Officer.

The officer received injuries to his leg and was treated by AMR and transported to
a local hospital.

The truck the suspect was driving had been reported stolen earlier to the Jackson Police Department.
