Five People Charged with Capital Murder

MANTACHIE, Miss.- In a case that began as a burglary, five people are now charged with capital murder in the shooting death of a Tupelo man that happened Sunday night. 27-year-old Andre Taylor was shot in the hip with a small caliber handgun, and died as a result of the injury.

Itawamba County Sheriff Chris Dickinson told WTVA-TV that the people were attempting to burglarize the man’s home on Museum drive, and steal almost two pounds of marijuana.

When they discovered two people were inside the home, the burglary turned into a robbery. Taylor was shot at some point after that.

Investigators have discovered the car used in the robbery attempt, and they also discovered two guns at the Richey Apartment Complex on Keeley Drive in the small town of Auburn, in Lee County.

Tonisha Johnson, 19, of Tupelo, Tyjuan Metcalf, 21, Demarco Kelly, 22, and Tyandre Thomas, 22, all three of Clarksdale, have been arrested.
