KKK Group Planning Summer Rally In Jones County

LAUREL, Miss. – A Ku Klux Klan chapter is seeking a permit to host a rally at the Jones County Courthouse this summer.

The group, United Dixie White Knights of Mississippi, said in an emailed request to the city of Laurel’s special events coordinator that the rally would be “in regards to current Federal Court cases that are attempting to circumvent Mississippi’s Constitution in regards to Gay Marriage, and illegal Federal intervention into our States right to force illegal immigration laws.

The United Dixie White Knights is listed as an active chapter of the KKK by the Southern Poverty Law Center and is registered with the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office.

The email was sent by Brent Waller, who identified himself as the groups “elected Imperial Wizard.” A city spokesperson said it was unclear if the city could actually grant the group a permit to host the rally at a county building, even though it is within city limits.
