Meth in a Child’s System: Family Indicted in Petal

PETAL, Miss.–Methamphetamine was found in a 13-month-old’s system when the child was taken to the hospital last year. Tuesday, three family members were indicted by a grand jury in Petal and were arrested.

That includes the child’s parents, Colton Gipson and Brittany Allen, and the child’s grandmother, Cindy Gipson.

While all three were charged with felony child neglect, the indictment also includes a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for the mom.

Investigators said in the indictment that the parents took the little girl to Forrest General, where she tested positive for meth in her system. She was taken to UMMC for treatment and then was taken from the family by DHS, who also took another child they were caring for.
