Pike House on Indefinite Suspension After Hattiesburg Zoo Break In

HATTIESBURG, Miss– The Delta Mu chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) at Southern Miss is suspended indefinitely and the residents of the frat house have an eviction notice in hand.

It’s the story of the two flamingos, dead after police say Devin Nottis jumped the fence at the Hattiesburg Zoo with friends and stole a flamingo, and hurt another in the attack. Both flamingos died. Nottis was arrested and suspended from Southern Miss, where he was a pledge to Delta Mu of Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike). The fraternity was then suspended pending investigation.

Now the Student Printz at USM reports that the Pike house has closed its doors indefinitely, and house residents have until 5pm Friday to leave. VIce President of Student Affairs Joe Paul says the fraternity failed to govern its people and harmed the university and community.

The students are getting help with placement on campus. If they choose to venture off campus, the money they already paid for housing will be refunded.
