Police are searching for suspects after six people were shot during a trail ride event in Jackson early Saturday morning.
According to the Jackson Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 2900 block of Forrest Avenue shortly after 12:30 a.m. There, they found one person dead and five injured.
“The shooting occurred during a trail ride event at Grants Field in Northwest Jackson, where witnesses reported that a very large crowd was in attendance. According to witness accounts, the incident began as a fight involving several unidentified males and later escalated to gunfire,” JPD said in a release.
The deceased was identified as Joidan Worthy, 18.
Four of the five injured victims were transported to local hospitals. As of Saturday evening, two had been treated and released, while two others remained hospitalized. A sixth victim suffered a minor injury after being grazed by a projectile and did not seek hospital treatment, according to JPD.
