A 10-year-old boy is reported to have been shot and killed in Coahoma County on Christmas Eve.

On Sunday, just after 9 p.m., Coahoma County 911 received a call about a juvenile with gunshot wounds being transported to a hospital in Clarksdale by a private vehicle.

Deputies later learned that a 14-year-old and a 10-year-old had been riding around the downtown area of Friars Point when someone opened fire and subsequently struck the 10-year-old.

The boy, later identified as Al’Darius Nesbitt, ultimately succumbed to injuries he sustained from the gunfire.

Anyone with information that could lead authorities to the shooter is asked to contact Coahoma County Sheriff’s Investigator Major Gwen Muskin at (662)592-1395. A $2,500 reward is offered for tips leading to an arrest.
