1,434 new cases reported in Miss. as Biden prepares to address the nation

The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) is reporting a three-day total of 1,434 new cases of COVID-19.

The latest report, which covers December 17-19, brings the state’s total number of cases up to 523,889. With the confirmation of 10 additional deaths, 10,364 Mississippians have passed away from the virus.

Currently, 1,435,238 Mississippi residents are fully vaccinated.

With the recent surge of cases around the world and the Omicron variant expected to become the dominant strain in some countries, President Joe Biden will address the nation on Tuesday. The White House said that it will “not be a speech about shutting the country down.”
