1,511 new COVID-19 cases reported across Mississippi

COVID-19 is continuing to cycle through the Magnolia State, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health’s latest report confirming 1,511 new cases.

Friday’s update brings the state’s total number of cases to 866,040. With 14 additional deaths, the total number of Mississippians who have passed as a result of the virus is now 12,603. Additionally, there are currently 213 ongoing outbreaks in long-term care facilities.

Mississippi is averaging 1,440 daily cases over the last week, a 25% increase from two weeks ago. As of Monday, 1,559,790 (52%) of Mississippi residents were fully vaccinated.
