Clarksdale police report that authorities were dispatched to Westover Apartments on Wednesday around 10:12 a.m. in reference to multiple subjects being shot. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities said they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds. Two of the subjects were unresponsive, and later pronounced deceased.
Authorities identified the deceased as Aaliyah Dudley and Lorenzo Murrell. The injured is identified as Natasha Tillman. She was airlifted to medical care and is currently listed in critical condition, police said.
As for the motive behind the shooting, investigators have preliminarily determined that Murrell, who was in a domestic relationship with Dudley, arrived at the apartment and shot the two women before turning the weapon on himself.
“Next-of-kin notifications have been made. The remains of Dudley and Murrell were transferred to the custody of the Coahoma County Coroner. The Clarksdale Police Department asks the community to keep the families and loved ones of those involved in this tragic incident in their thoughts and prayers,” an official statement from the law enforcement agency reads.
