A second arrest has been made in connection with the death of a woman found hanging in Jackson.
Police report that 25-year-old Earnest Lloyd Jr. is charged with murder for his alleged role in 29-year-old Tasia Fortune’s passing. Lloyd joins 51-year-old Jarques Ratliff in facing charges in this case.
Ratliff was handcuffed earlier this month and denied bond. Both arrests come after the State Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Fortune’s death a homicide.
Fortune, a mother of four children, was found deceased on Road of Remembrance on Aug. 3. Police say her body was found in a hanging position from a tree behind a vacant house.
Detectives with the Jackson Police Department say they have interviewed as many as 15 individuals, collected and preserved forensic evidence, and followed numerous leads in an effort to establish the facts of this case.
An arrest warrant is out for a third suspect believed to have been involved in Fortune’s killing, though the individual’s name is being withheld at this time. The warrant has been turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service. Additional warrants are forthcoming as the investigation continues, police added.
