The top in-state basketball prospect in the class of 2021 has committed to Ole Miss.

Daeshun Ruffin, a 4-star PG out of Callaway High School in Jackson, announced his commitment on Twitter on Wednesday.

Ruffin chose the Rebels over Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State, Alabama and LSU — the schools in his previously announced top six.

Averaging nearly 27 ppg, Ruffin led Callaway to the 5A state championship in his junior season and was named the 2019-20 Gatorade Mississippi Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

The 5’9 PG is the first commitment in the Rebels’ class of 2021, and according to 24/7 Sports, he is the second-highest ranked recruit in program history behind guard Matthew Murrell in the class of 2020.
