5,778 new COVID-19 cases recorded across Mississippi over last week

In its weekly report released Tuesday afternoon, the Mississippi State Department of Health confirmed 5,778 new cases of COVID-19.

The seven-day update brings the state’s total number of recorded cases since the onset of the pandemic to 960,923. With 15 additional deaths, 13,112 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus. Currently, there are 149 outbreaks in long-term care facilities.

Mississippi is now averaging 825 cases per day, which is a 78 percent increase from two weeks ago.
