Schools in Mississippi continue on the road to success as 40 high schools have been presented with the 2021 College Success Award by GreatSchools.org for their efforts to improve college enrollment rates and retention.

A total of 1,838 high schools in 25 states have been given the award for keeping a detailed track record of students after graduation showing that students have not only enrolled in college but continued into their second year.

Out of the 48 schools, 30 were awarded the gold College Success Award for keeping a multi-year record of the college achievements of their graduates.

Three percentages are reported in the College Success category: percentages in graduates pursuing college or vocational program, needing remediation in college, and returning to college for a second year.

The CEO of GreatSchools.org Jon Deane commented on the educational advances in the state:

“We applaud Mississippi schools for prioritizing high-quality public education, putting students on the path to bright futures,” Deane said. “Over the past two years, students, parents, teachers, and communities have relied on one another like never before. We congratulate and thank everyone for their unwavering pursuit of college success for all students.”

Mississippi continues to add achievements to its list despite the odds, showing the tenacity and dedication of educators and students.
