After marking their first-ever undefeated regular season with a 24-13 road victory over Alcorn State on Saturday, Jackson State will have to wait to find out who they’ll play in the SWAC Championship game.

Currently,  Prairie View A&M (6-5, 5-3 SWAC) and Southern University (6-4, 4-3 SWAC) are the only teams within reach of claiming the West’s divisional title, with Southern controlling its own destiny. With a win against Grambling State in the Bayou Classic on Saturday, the Jaguars will be positioned to play in the conference championship due to a head-to-head victory over Prairie View in the regular season.

For the Panthers to advance to face Jackson State in a rematch of the 2021 SWAC title game, Southern will have to fall to Grambling.

Regardless of the opponent, with JSU hosting the championship at Veterans-Memorial Stadium, the Tigers will have a home-field advantage as the winner earns a spot in the seventh annual Cricket Celebration Bowl.

The SWAC Championship game will be held on Saturday, December 3 at 3 p.m. CT and can be watched on ESPN2.
