A spring evening with the sweeping melodies of a live orchestra can be expected at the 3rd annual Moonlight, Music, and Meteors event, happening Friday, April 25, at “The Den” in LeFleur’s Bluff State Park.
Presented by the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science (MMNS) in partnership with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra (MSO), alongside NASA’s Solar System Ambassadors, the event goes from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. and promises a blend of music, astronomy, and family fun with a chance to witness the dazzling Lyrid meteor shower.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle for a symphony under the stars. As MSO’s music fills the night air, NASA’s experts will guide visitors through a celestial journey offering a deep look at the wonders of space.
“As we celebrate the Museum’s 25th year at LeFleur’s Bluff, events like Moonlight, Music, and Meteors showcase what makes this place so special – bringing people together to experience the beauty of nature in unforgettable ways,” MMNS director Angel Rohnke said.
The event is supported by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation (MMNSF), the Mississippi Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for Arts.
“Moonlight is one of those magical nights where science, art, and nature blend perfectly. We’re proud to support this unique experience and celebrate connecting families to Mississippi’s wild side,” MMNSF executive director Susan Frazier said.
