Thaddeus Clayton Cochran, the son of late U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran, was arrested over the weekend for the third time in just over two months.
According to the Madison Police Department, officers responded Friday to a residence in the Cypress Lake neighborhood after receiving a report of stalking and harassment. While officers were on the scene, dispatch advised them that the other party involved, later identified as Cochran, was at the police department.

Upon returning to the station, law enforcement attempted to interview Cochran when he “became belligerent toward officers,” a press release noted. The 58-year-old was ultimately placed under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing, and stalking.
On Sunday, Cochran had his initial appearance in Madison Municipal Court and received no bond. He is being held at the Madison County Detention Center as he awaits further court proceedings.
The Madison Police Department arrested Cochran on March 1 and charged him with trespassing and contempt of court after violating a restraining order placed on him by his ex-wife. The charges were later dismissed. On March 30, he was arrested again for violating a protective order.
Cochran’s father served in the U.S. House from 1973-78 and the U.S. Senate from 1978-2018.
