The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is making a call for local artists to enter their artwork for a chance to be featured on the state’s first-ever wild turkey stamp.
The Mississippi Wild Turkey Stamp will launch in 2026 after a multi-year legislative effort by hunters, conservation partners, land manager, and other outdoor leaders. The stamp was created to enhance management, habitat, and research for wild turkeys.
After the success of duck stamps at the state and federal levels, officials wanted a similar dedicated source of funding to support wild turkey populations and the habitats they depend on.

“Our state is a special place for turkey hunting,” MDWFP Executive Director Lynn Posey said. “The Wild Turkey Stamp ensures Mississippi will remain at the forefront of turkey conversation for future generations. We appreciate our legislature, conversation partners, and the public who helped make this happen.”
As part of the stamp kickoff campaign, MDWFP officials are inviting Mississippi-based artists aged 15 and older to submit original artwork to be featured as the first-ever stamp. Submissions should specifically depict the Eastern wild turkey in a natural, Mississippi setting.
The winning artist will not only have their artwork featured as the stamp, but will also receive a monetary gift, a spotlight in the Mississippi Outdoors Magazine, and more.
