The William Carey athletic department has won the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Commissioner’s Cup for the ninth consecutive year. The award is given annually to the top scoring athletic department in the NAIA league.
Carey collected both the overall award and the women’s commissioner’s cup, while the men’s program came up just short in completing a clean sweep.
The Crusaders claimed conference titles in men’s cross country, women’s soccer, women’s indoor track & field, women’s basketball, women’s golf, women’s outdoor track & field, men’s and women’s tennis, and baseball.
“It’s awesome to win the SSAC Commissioner’s Cup,” William Carey athletic director Tracy English said. “I’m really proud of the coaches’ commitment to their teams and our program.”
For the overall cup, William Carey totaled 97.78 points, convincingly separating itself from its conference mates. The next closest program was Dalton State with 83.94 points.
