An investigation has been launched after an officer-involved shooting in Jefferson County.
The shooting happened Saturday on Crosby Lane in Lorman. According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, the agencies involved were the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks.
Officers were following a lead after a woman was sent to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Upon arriving to a residence believed to be related to the shooting, a suspect displayed a gun. This resulted in an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and law enforcement.
The suspect was struck and transported to a local hospital to be treated for critical injuries. No officers were injured.
