Per usual, Mississippi is well-represented on a list honoring some of the top players in all of Division I college baseball.
Southern Miss pitcher JB Middleton and second baseman Nick Monistere were both named Second-Team All-Americans by D1Baseball on Thursday. Mississippi State standout Ace Reese joined them on the list as a designated hitter.
Middleton, the 2025 Ferriss Trophy winner, was one of the top pitchers in the country all season long. The first team All-Sun Belt selection compiled a 10-1 record with a 2.31 ERA, ranking second nationally in WHIP (0.85), fifth in hits allowed per nine innings (5.55), seventh in strikeouts (122), ninth in ERA, and 11th in total wins.
Thursday’s award marks the fifth All-America honor for the Yazoo City native, also collecting first team honors by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Perfect Game, along with second team marks by ABCA/Rawlings and third team by Baseball America.
Monistere, also a Ferriss Trophy finalist and the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, finished his banner junior season with .323 batting average, 12 doubles, 21 home runs (15th nationally), and 72 RBI — leading Southern Miss and the Sun Belt in the two latter categories.
The D1Baseball list makes three All-America honors for Monistere, along with a first team nod by the NCBWA and third team by Baseball America.
Reese made the most of his first year as a Bulldog, leading the team with a .352 batting average, 18 doubles, 21 home runs (15th nationally), and 66 RBI. The Houston transfer ranked top seven in the SEC in each category.
The Canton, Texas, native was named the SEC Newcomer of the year and a first team All-SEC honoree. Like Middleton, Reese has now been named an All-American by five total entities, along with first team honors from the NCBWA, second team from Baseball America and ABCA/Rawlings, and third team by Perfect Game.
