Bond has been denied for a man accused of pointing a gun at a Jackson police officer for the sake of social media clout.
Onterrio McDougle, 20, appeared in court on Tuesday and was ordered to remain behind bars until his next hearing. Authorities report that McDougle, while traveling in a vehicle, pointed what appeared to be an assault rifle at an officer in his patrol car. The incident happened on March 24.
Law enforcement officials were made aware of McDougle’s alleged actions after the subject posted a photograph of himself wielding the firearm and pointing it in the officer’s direction. This post was widely shared on social media at the time.
After investigating, police were able to identify McDougle through the social media post. On June 6, local and federal officials joined forces in executing a warrant in the 3000 block of Meadow Forest. At the scene, law enforcement handcuffed McDougle along with Zybralian Johnson, 19, after discovering multiple firearms, machine gun conversion devices, a felony amount of illegal drugs, and stolen vehicles.
McDougle was charged with making terroristic threats, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a machine gun conversion device, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, while in possession of a firearm. His case is not connected to that of Steven Perry Jr., who was also arrested this year for pointing a firearm at a police officer.
