Hours after announcing a campaign to help Texas flooding victims, Amore Italian Restaurant near the Ross Barnett Reservoir was robbed.
The restaurant took to social media on Tuesday afternoon, reporting that 20% of all Wednesday’s sales would go toward flood relief efforts and assist the families and businesses impacted by the disaster. Hours later, the family-owned establishment was robbed.
“Our restaurant was broken into overnight, and the front glass was shattered during the robbery,” a Facebook post from Amore’s official account reads. “Thankfully, no one was hurt. The police responded quickly today and have assessed the scene. We’re cooperating fully with their investigation and taking all necessary steps to secure the space.”
The incident forced the eatery to shut down temporarily. However, in a follow-up post early Wednesday afternoon, the restaurant announced that it had reopened its doors to the public.
“We Are OPEN NOW and READY TO SERVE! Thank you for your support and patience — we’re here and happy to welcome you back,” Amore posted.
Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to contact local law enforcement. No arrests have been announced at this time. As for the latest on the tragic flooding in Texas, the death toll has reached at least 120, with more than 170 people still missing.
