Mississippi’s regional professional theatre in the capital city is holding open auditions to fill the stage for its upcoming 60th anniversary season.
In an announcement released Wednesday, a call was made for both union and non-union adult actors, including actors ages seven and up, interested in performing during the 2025-2026 season.
A variety of roles and performances are available for adult actors in the upcoming season, with limited roles for youth actors. Singers are especially encouraged to audition as a pair of major musicals, Disney’s “Frozen” and “Ragtime,” are included in the season’s offerings. Up to 20 adults and two youth actors will be cast in the two musicals.
The classic thrilled “Wait Until Dark,” comedy “The Play That Goes Wrong,” and Pulitzer-prize winning play “Primary Trust” all will require adult actors.
“We are so excited to be presenting our 60th Diamond Anniversary season with a full slate of shows offering so many wonderful opportunities for our region’s talented artists,” New Stage Artistic Director Francine Thomas Reynolds said.
“We have frequently found new faces from the auditions, and I can’t wait to be amazed by new and our more established actors. Sinc we are produced a wide variety of shows this season that need a diversity of local, regional, and national actors, I encourage any interested singers, actors, or performers to come to our open auditions.”
As Reynolds pointed out, the differing show productions offer acting opportunities to a wide range and diversity of talent. Appropriately, the theatre has named their 60th season’s theme as “Theatre That Sparkles.”
The open auditions are scheduled to be on Monday, Aug. 11, and Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Online registration for auditions is now open here.
