Tropical Storm Dexter formed well off the East Coast on Sunday night and is expected to strengthen over the next few days.
Officials with the National Hurricane Center expect Dexter to remain out at sea, so it’s not a threat to Mississippi or any other part of the U.S. as of now.
Another area of low pressure could form along the old stalled front off the Southeast coast later this week. There is a low chance it could gradually organize into a tropical depression mid- to late week while moving northwest toward the coastal Carolinas.
The National Hurricane Center is also monitoring a tropical wave that’s located over western Africa. It’s forecast to emerge off the coast of Africa late Monday and move northwest into the tropical Atlantic. This system could form into a tropical depression or storm late this week once it reaches the central Atlantic. For now, it is no immediate threat to land.
