Walmart will host its annual Wellness Event on Saturday, Sept. 13, offering free health screenings, affordable immunizations, and other health-focused activities at nearly 4,600 pharmacy locations across the country, including in Mississippi.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to the public at all local Walmart locations. Attendees can receive free screenings for blood pressure, glucose and BMI, as well as free vision checks at select locations. No-cost flu shots and other affordable vaccines, including RSV, shingles, and tetanus, and HPV will also be available.
“Walmart pharmacists are among the most trusted healthcare providers in their communities,” the company said in a release, noting that more than half have worked with Walmart for over 10 years.
Since 2014, Walmart’s wellness events have provided more than 5 million free health screenings nationwide. The company says these efforts reinforce its commitment to accessible and affordable care, especially in communities facing shortages of medical providers.
Shoppers can also learn more about Walmart’s $4 generic prescription program, get nutrition recommendations, and take-home samples and giveaways while supplies last.
Walmart has recently expanded its health and wellness offerings, including a testing and treatment service for strep, flu, and COVID-19. Customers can be tested, treated and pick up or receive same-day delivery of prescriptions, often within 30 minutes. The company also launched pharmacy delivery last year, now available to more than 93% of U.S. households.
By the end of 2025, Walmart plans to remodel or upgrade nearly 2,000 pharmacy locations nationwide, adding health services rooms to provide private spaces for immunizations and other clinical care.
