An investigation has been launched after an officer-involved shooting in Hancock County left one person dead.
According to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, deputies with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence call where the subject was said to be holding an individual captive along Highway 604 in Pearlington.
Upon arriving, the subject displayed a weapon at the deputies resulting in the deputies discharging their firearms. The subject received fatal injuries. No officers were injured during the encounter.
MBI is assessing the incident and continues to gather evidence. All findings will be turned over to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
