Law enforcement officials in Mississippi confiscated more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety announced Tuesday that, on Sept. 11, officers with the Mississippi Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division stopped a commercial vehicle on I-20 in Lauderdale County for an inspection. While assessing the vehicle, officers discovered over 1,000 pounds of marijuana hidden within the load inside the trailer.
The driver, Zhitoa Wang, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

The truck and multiple electronic devices were also seized. Authorities are continuing to assess the case. In the meantime, Wang is housed in the Lauderdale County Jail on charges of trafficking controlled substances and motor vehicle permit violations.
“Great work by Commercial Transportation Enforcement Division officers and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics for their teamwork and dedication to keeping drugs off our roadways,” a release from DPS reads.
