WellsFest, which prides itself as “Jackson’s original music festival,” heads into its 41st edition with a full slate of concerts packed into this Saturday.
An event designed for all ages, this year’s WellsFest will be held at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum located at 1150 Lakeland Drive. Beginning at 10 a.m. and going until 4 p.m., the event will include non-stop music from a variety of genres, a 5k run, a children’s play area, a vendor’s village with arts and crafts for sale, a plant sale, an online auction, and food trucks.
All net proceeds from the event put on by Wells United Methodist Church will be donated to the Jackson Free Clinic, a student-owned and operated, nonprofit medical care facility. The clinic solely serves individuals who don’t have health insurance. A board of licensed and experienced medical practitioners oversee the students’ work.
“For more than 40 years, our congregation has viewed every WellsFest as our gift of love to the community,” Wells United Methodist senior pastor Rev. Susanna Grubbs Carr said. “The medical students and young physicians in their residencies who operate Jackson Free Clinic have deeply impressed us with their skill and compassion in providing numerous forms of healthcare services for uninsured folks at no charge. [The clinic] is highly deserving of everyone’s support.”
