Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC) gathered more than 100 student representatives from across its campuses on Wednesday for the school’s annual Student Leadership Conference at the Harrison County campus.
The event offered student government officers, club leaders, resident assistants, and members of the Reflections Team opportunities to connect and sharpen leadership skills through workshops and discussions with the following professionals:
- Brian Dubaz Pfarrer, USM Foundation major gift officer at the University of Southern Mississippi
- Dr. Christopher J. Williams, Sr., Moss Point School District superintendent
- Dr. Ben Weldon, Ingalls Shipbuilding manager of workforce development
- Cody Breland, Wild Acres Hands-On Animal Experience owner and founder
- Max Greenough, University of Southern Mississippi assistant director of athletic communications
- Mollie McCarroll, Ingalls Shipbuilding community relations representative
- Grace Russell, CMG Mortgage Inc. loan originator
- Sawyer Walters, University of Southern Mississippi law enforcement, public safety, and leadership skills development officer; Army National Guard military intelligence officer
Breakout sessions gave students hands-on training in areas such as professional success, financial decision-making, communication, and workplace readiness.
College officials said the conference underscores MGCCC’s ongoing efforts to equip students with the skills needed to succeed in their future careers and to contribute to their communities.
