Former Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart is the latest NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month.
It didn’t take long for Dart to become a household name in the professional football world once New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll turned to the first-rounder as his team’s starting field general in late September. Dart took the reins as veteran Russell Wilson was moved to a backup role after a winless trio of regular-season games to begin the 2025-26 season.
Once his name was called, Dart delivered. The dual-threat rookie led the Giants to a 21-18 win over the then-undefeated Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 25. After suffering a loss to the New Orleans Saints the next weekend, Dart’s efforts helped New York mount a home upset over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, a victory that earned the former Ole Miss star the Nickelodeon Valuable Player of the Week award.
Though Dart’s two most recent games resulted in shortcomings on the scoreboard — a loss at Denver following a fourth-quarter collapse by the Giants’ defense and a loss in a revenge matchup against the Eagles — his impact on the field, especially while lacking top wideout, Malik Nabers, has been praised by spectators.

Through five starts, Dart has amassed 984 yards and eight touchdowns in the air while throwing three interceptions. He’s also logged 195 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
Next up for the Dart-led Giants is a home game against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday at 12 p.m. CT. While the Giants’ offense has been humming since the quarterback change, the loss of rookie sensation Cam Skattebo at running back has made the upcoming slate of matchups more difficult.
Skattebo suffered an open tibia fracture and ruptured deltoid ligament in addition to a right ankle dislocation on Sunday. The Arizona State product underwent surgery in Philadelphia the day of the injury and is not expected to return to the gridiron any time soon.
