A Tippah County woman was hospitalized early Thursday morning, telling law enforcement she was assaulted by someone impersonating a police officer.
The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident happened around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 72 and CR 605 near the Alcorn-Tippah county line. Deputies received a report of a crash in the area, but when they arrived, they were unable to locate any vehicles.
Around 7:05 a.m., the sheriff’s office was dispatched to Magnolia Regional Hospital in reference to the earlier crash report. Upon arriving, deputies were advised that a female driving a silver Cadillac XT5 midsize SUV reported she had been pulled over by an unknown vehicle with a blue light on the dashboard.
The female alleged that a white male wearing a dark-colored t-shirt asked for her driver’s license and then struck her in the head with an object, causing her to lose consciousness. She told law enforcement that when she came to, she drove herself to the hospital.
The victim’s name has not been released. No arrests have been made at this time.
