Isolated strong to severe storms will be possible in parts of Mississippi on Friday afternoon and evening as a cold front approaches. The primary hazards will be damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail as large as quarters. A tornado or two can’t be ruled out. Here’s your statewide forecast from the National Weather Service.
Northern Mississippi
Today will be partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the mid-70s. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms and lows in the mid-50s.
Central Mississippi
Today will be mostly sunny with patchy morning fog and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the upper 70s. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with possible showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be in the lower 60s.
Southern Mississippi
Today will be partly sunny with patchy morning fog and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Locally heavy rain is possible. Highs will be near 80. Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be in the lower to mid-60s.
