A dozen Mississippi airports will renovate facilities, courtesy of more than $10 million in federal grants.
U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) announced Tuesday that $10,177,785 from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Infrastructure Grant program will support improvements such as runway construction, lighting, signage, and terminal upgrades to ensure the continued efficiency and safety of the national airspace system.
“Infrastructure upgrades are necessary to improve safety and economic development in Mississippi. This funding will bring critical advancements to our airports, while providing more opportunities for job creators,” Wicker said. “These airport improvements will benefit Mississippi and every traveler who visits our great state.”
The money is going to the following airports:

The Airport Infrastructure Grant program, which was created in the 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, provides funding to U.S. airports for improvements such as runways, taxiways, terminals, and safety projects. These funds are distributed through a formula. Senator Wicker was the lead Republican on the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee when the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was negotiated.
