Ridgeland High School has named its new athletics director and head football coach.
Coming off a successful, decade-long run as the frontman of Velma Jackson’s football program, Bernard Euell is jumping from the 1A ranks to lead a 6A Titans team that has enjoyed recent success. Euell takes over a Ridgeland program that went 11-2 and made a strong playoff push this past season, one that ended in a 45-42 loss to eventual state champion Warren Central in the semifinals.
“Euell spent the afternoon connecting with Titan student-athletes and visiting the football team during spring practice, beginning the process of building relationships and setting the tone for the program,” the Madison County School District posted on social media on Tuesday.
Euell, who led Velma Jackson to the state title game in 2023, will fill the vacancy left by longtime Mississippi high school football coach Todd McDaniel, who retired after a 17-year career, three of which were at Ridgeland. As for Velma Jackson, the Falcons will begin a search for their next head coach.
