A former Mississippi police officer is behind bars on bribery charges.
According to Breezy News, former Carthage police officer Howard Cole was taken into custody on May 13 and charged with bribery and conspiracy as a law enforcement officer.
Carthage Police Chief Billy McMillan told the publication he received a tip in November 2025 that Cole was believed to be stealing money from the department. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation took over the case and gathered enough evidence to arrest Cole.
Cole’s bond was set at $30,000 for each felony charge.
