An investigation is underway following the death of an inmate in Grenada County.
Officials confirmed that Everett Lynn Welch Sr. was discovered deceased at the county’s adult detention center on Wednesday. Welch had been locked up back in March on charges of touching a child for lustful purposes and statutory rape.
At this time, officials have not announced the inmate’s cause of death, though foul play is not suspected.
The Grenada County Sheriff’s Office said the incident is being assessed with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation looking to the matter, as well.
