Ole Miss is back in the College World Series for the first time since 2022 — and we all know how that played out.
Now, the Rebels will look to return to glory with North Carolina being the first opponent on the docket. Mike Bianco’s club (41-21) will take on the Tar Heels (50-12-1) on Friday at 6 p.m. CT, with ESPN and participating SuperTalk Mississippi stations airing the showdown.
Both clubs had to navigate difficult paths en route to Omaha. Ole Miss had to work its way through a stout Lincoln Regional that featured solid Nebraska and Arizona State clubs, before venturing to SEC foe Auburn to take on the No. 4 national seed Tigers. And the Rebels won five straight games, entering the College World Series unscathed.
North Carolina, the NCAA Tournament’s No. 5 national seed, maneuvered through a home regional that included Tennessee and East Carolina, along with a super regional against a red-hot USC club. The Tar Heels, fueled by a raucous home crowd, managed to escape a scare in a dramatic super regional finale to advance.
Should the Rebels beat North Carolina on Friday, they will play on Sunday at 6 p.m. against the winner of West Virginia and Troy. If they lose to North Carolina, they will play at 1 p.m. on Sunday against the loser of West Virginia and Troy.
