A Sardis man will spend the rest of his life in prison for beating his 3-month-old daughter to death in 2023.
Alcorn County District Attorney Jason Herring announced that Gabriel Girner, 24, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder on Tuesday in connection with the death of his daughter. Corinth police initially investigated Girner when the toddler was found unresponsive in her father’s home.
Police report that the daughter, identified as Ivana Rose Girner was found with blunt force trauma wounds to her head, neck, and chest before being pronounced deceased at a Memphis hospital.
After pleading guilty to his involvement in Ivana’s death, the father was handed a life sentence that he is ordered to serve without the possibility of parole or early release.
