The Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce is inviting livestock producers to a one-day workshop focused on building more profitable and resilient farming operations.
The workshop is titled “Profitable & Resilient: Building High-Margin Livestock Systems for an Uncertain Future.” It will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, in the Forestry Building at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum in Jackson.
Nationally recognized livestock systems expert Dr. Allen Williams will be the workshop’s speaker and share strategies for improving pasture and soil health, reducing production costs, and increasing long-term profitability.
“Whether you raise cattle, sheep, goats, or other grazing livestock, you will leave with practical ideas you can begin implementing on your own farm,” Mississippi Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson said. “This workshop explores the principles and practices that drive long-term profitability through adaptive stewardship, soil health, and low-input production systems.”
Other topics that will be discussed include taking advantage of emerging market opportunities, weather patterns, fluctuating prices, evolving consumer demands, and resilience in the livestock industry.
“Those who attend will leave with practical strategies to help build livestock enterprises designed for long-term success,” Gipson said.
